MY $7 WALL ART

My quest for inexpensive decor has continued:

I saw this idea at my friend's house in Lubbock last summer, and instantly loved it! I took to Pinterest to see what other people were doing with it. The supplies totaled around seven dollars. The clipboards being a dollar each from my local Dollar Tree, and the "art" being free printables/my own creations printed to regular printer paper!

IKEA Hacks

I have always loved getting furniture at Ikea. When moving to my new apartment it was my first stop for new items! The problem became even worse when I discovered all the different things people were doing to enhance their low cost finds.

My first Ikea hacking attempt included an end table for $7.99, and hundreds of thumb tacks. The end result made me feel like I could take on my next project! This was my vanity/desk found here, and below.

I was getting slightly out of control finding ideas everywhere for future projects, but sadly ran out of space in my apartment. Here are some other "hacks" that won't break the bank:
1. A new bar cart from Style Me Pretty.

student discount finds

One perk of being back in school is being able to whip out my student ID and get discounts while shopping.  I wasn't aware of just how many stores participated! I did a little research, and thought I would share it with my fellow college students out there (or recent graduates that can still pull of their student ID).

I have wanted to start my blog up again since traveling, but with no clue what to share. I decide to write about what I know, and that is being a college student (again) in my twenties. This blog is going to be dedicated to others who are looking for affordable experiences, styles, and projects to fit their everyday lifestyle.

Christmas in McKinney, TX

My mom is about to embark on a new project, so we took our amateur (and I mean very amateur) photography skills and put them to work in downtown McKinney Christmas day! You're welcome for the family cheesiness.

DIY Upholstered Headboard

About a year ago I was in desperate need of headboard, but was looking for something on the cheaper side since it was only going in a dorm room. I found a simple tutorial that worked out well. It ended up holding up better than I expected, and has made it to my new apartment!

Materials:

2 pieces of plywood: Home Depot

Fabric: Fabric Yard

 Quilt Batting: Joann's

Staple Gun: Home Depot

Liquid Nails: Home Depot 

I did change a couple things from the original tutorial. I used quilt batting instead of a mattress topper, and only used Liquid Nails, rather than screwing each individual square into the back piece of plywood. I also found it cheaper to purchase the 4x8 ft. plywood and have them cut it for me rather than buying the individual squares. I did get some strange looks from the workers at Home Depot when I was telling them what the wood was for, that is for sure.

Dallas Adventures

My Final Visit!

After getting home from my travels at the end of April I began enjoying time with family, friends, and my hometown of McKinney, TX! I don't know how three months has gone by so fast, I feel like I just took the flight home from Memphis yesterday. My last visit as a TLC took me to Christian Brothers University!

Since being home, Ive been able to do a few more travels of my own...

Turned my flat friends in for real friends to celebrate birthdays!

Back to TCU to see some of my favorites become graduates!

To Key West and Mexico to reunite (and unite for the first time in some cases) with other TLC's!

To my family's old stomping grounds in Colorado

And back to McKinney to say goodbye to my best friend as she begins her travels as a TLC!

I've enjoyed every experience since graduating over seven months ago, and am even more excited to be going back to TCU for graduate school!
